Mannus Wines is our family vineyard, Stuart and Janine Barclay and our 4 girls, Nestled in the foothills of the snowy mountains just 10km’s from the beautiful township of Tumbarumba, halfway between Sydney and Melbourne and 3 hours from Canberra.

Tumbarumba is one of Australia’s premium cool climate wine growing regions, rapidly gaining a reputation as the premier region in Australia for it’s Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The local wine industry grew from the early 1980’s experiments into the some 30 vineyards today that supply major labels with high grade fruit. However to quote one the founders of the local industry “we are still on the dark side of the moon”.

Mannus wines are made exclusively from fruit grown on our vineyard in Tumbarumba. The vineyards elevation is 650 meters above sea level. The combination of the alpine climate and basalt soils is perfect for growing premium quality sparkling wines and top end table wines.

Our vineyard comprises of 60 acres of grapes, the varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Shiraz. It is our goal to continue to produce high quality fruit and turn small parcels into high quality boutique wines. Our signature wines would have to be our sparkling Pinot Noir - Chardonnay, we have a vintage and a non vintage. Made in the traditional method of bottle fermentation with an extended period of maturation on lees. Our 2008 Vintage is still on lees under the watchful eye of winemaker Andrew Drumm at CSU in Wagga. We are hoping to release this wine at Tumbafest 2011.

At the moment in the vineyard it is all systems go. The canopy is growing as you watch it ,Which just means lots of spraying slashing and hedging. The rain although we have had quite enough of it has made everything beautiful and green and the vineyard does look lovely. When it isnt raining the days have been really lovely and the nights have been cool, so lets just hope that this means the berries will be developing some really nice flavours.

The most exciting thing going on around here is our cellar door. Finally the roof is on the deck and the big glass door has been put in and we are now open for business. The cellar door has been open for tastings for approximately 12 months. Now you can enjoy a glass of wine and a ploughman's lunch on the deck overlooking the vineyard.

The cellar door is available for functions / group bookings.

Our cellar door is open 12pm to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, or by appointment.

Look forward to seeing you there...
